One of the main issues for us to overcome in this design was the severe slope from the old patio down to the rear of the garden. It was clear that we’d have to implement different levels throughout the design.
When looking at our brochure, the customers were really impressed by the Curly Whirly water feature. The shape of this feature dictated the curves in the design. They were really keen for us to have the modern aesthetics of the house flow into the garden. We chose a contemporary marble-like paving and blue engineering bricks to mirror modern interior.
We raised the lawn to the level of the patio and from that level rose two walls, one for a raised planter and the other to give the water feature pride of place in the centre of the rear wall. Stepping down from the main level we laid a path between the garages for bin storage and installed another raised planter.
Lighting was a major factor in the design of this garden. To highlight the shape of the patio we installed LEDs inlaid around the edge of the paving. We used spotlights to magnify the shape of the water feature.
This rear garden makeover was just the beginning. They couldn’t get enough of us. We have returned twice since: once to install an entrance-way to the front door, in keeping with the back garden design; and again to replace the large lawn area beside the house with gravel and planting.
Professional and friendly service. Excellent workmanship, clean, tidy and knowledgeable team. Hard to find professionals in this slap-dash age. Was a welcome relief to find New Gardens. R. White
